#92 Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Dec. 16th, 2011 09:45 amThis is where I admit I have never read this book even though I have seen a few movie versions of it. I admit I had downloaded to read to make me fall asleep but that didn't work. I was surprised that for the most part I knew everything that was going to happen due to watching media versions of it but I was still kept in the story so reading it to fall asleep didn't work. The story holds up and I wouldn't be surprised if it holds up for several centuries.

Dec. 16th, 2011 09:57 amThe setup sounds very intriguing but the layout of the story drags. Humans have a colony on a planet that is currently inhabited with aliens that are almost incapable of lying. The plots turns on two points one is some of the aliens are trying to learn how to lie and due to the aliens brain structure humans can't be heard by them unless they are specially bred twins that are in almost perfect harmony. The government sends in some new ambassadors that have not been raised on the planet and they are not twins either but they are able to speak to the aliens with some unintended consequences. I liked the idea behind the story but I really felt the plot dragged at points and it might have worked better as a novella.

#95 Undone by Rachel Caine
Dec. 16th, 2011 01:54 pmI should have read this one a long time ago since the two main characters turn up in the Weather Warden books. The setting is the same as the Weather Warden books and you do see some people from those books but mostly it is about Cassiel a Djinn that was stripped of her powers and now lives as a human. She must feed off of wardens but she also does amp their powers by returning some of the power taken. The book is very much a fish out of water story with Cassiel trying to be human and not always getting it right. Her first partner is murdered and she hooks up with his brother to find his niece that was kidnapped. A new big bad gets introduced but very curious as to see where all this will end and how much it will mesh with the other series.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like reading this or not since I was one of those people that I think will always think of Pluto as a planet. The book does explain why he took this side of the argument but to be honest I don't think that was the best part of the book. The side story of an argument on who discovered another object in the sky I think was even more interesting in shedding like on the process of academic discovery. Glad I read it and honestly would recommend it to people to read.

Max "the Wolf", a boy scout finds himself in woods that are unfamiliar to him and alone from his troop. As he travels to find a way back to everyone he knows he meets several talking animals and during the journey learns more about the woods he found himself in. I really don't want to say too much and give away the story but I really liked it and it was a good YA story that certainly didn't feel as if there will be lots more to come.
