Well I am now caught up with all the J D Robb books. I finally got in the one that 2 months get from the library. Reading Conspiracy in Death was a bit of a letdown. I "knew" what would happen to the main players in the books since she does refer to past books as the series continues. I then read the novel she "co-wrote" with herself since the second half of the story is an Eve Dallas story. This was called Remember When. I have to admit that I wasn't that thrilled with the Nora Roberts half of the book. I guess I really like the setting of the Eve Dallas universe and that they are detective stories. I then finished up with Divided in Death and Visions in Death. Now I have to wait every six months for a new book to come out. Needless to say I have it on order at the library. ;-)

I had put off reading this simply because it was a thick book and I didn't feel like diving into the story. I enjoyed Mike's previous book and since this is set in the same universe I was confident I would like it as well. This one was darker than the previous just in the fact that the hero is a black ops guy. The ending left me hanging about what will happen to our hero. I have to admit I'm more interested in what happens on his home planet as time goes by with the actions that happened in the book. Yes I'm being vague about the details but I really don't want to spoil the book for anyone who does read it.

So I have now read books 2, 3 and 4 also know as Two for the Dough, Three to Get Deadly and Four to Score. The continuing adventures of Stephanie as she fumbles through life as a bounty hunter. At this point I would think the cops would start following up her hard cases since it always seems to be way more involved with cries that were not previously associated with the bail jumpers. Silly but fun light reads.

Part travel book part ode to food, this book was highly entertaining. I watch No Reservations on the Travel Channel hosted by Anthony Bourdain. I enjoyed his personality and wit on the show so I decided to pick up some of his nonfiction books (he has also written some mysteries). This book left me feeling hungry and having an itchy travel foot. The nice thing is each chapter is a separate adventure so you it makes for easy stopping points. One of the things he covers is the Tokyo Fish Market. I so want to go there. The description of him sitting on a frozen tuna having fresh tuna carved off another fish left me wanting tuna sashimi. Also his descriptions of Vietnamese Pho has me very curious about how great it is. This is a great book for foodies and travel buffs and if you are both then it is even better.

Well according to the LJ I have read 54 new books this year. I have to add I don't count rereads of books. I've been currently rereading the Merry Getry series by Laurell K Hamilton in the evenings that I can't sleep. Easy to put down since I know what happens. At this rate I will surpass last year's total. I think this has to do with reading potato chip books but I have read more nonfiction than is usual for me. I have several bios to read. The new Mark Twain and the new Andrew Jackson ones are but 2 of the books I got from BookExpo in June that I really want to read but still haven't managed to read. Speaking of which that reminds me of yet more books I read that I haven't posted. Must do that before I forget them again. It just never ends I swear.

I read this not knowing that this was the book that the movie Christmas with the Kranks was based on. Having said that all I knew about the movie was from the ads that ran for it a few years ago. The book was a lighthearted attempt to show the craziness of the holiday spirit. I had to agree that the full steam spending of money on the holiday does get the be a bit bizarre. But I have to admit it was over the top with the love that the neighbors appeared to have toward the main family's daughter.

I read a review copy of this back in June. The writing was rather choppy. I can believe what happened in the book but didn't care for her narrative style at all. There are gaps in what happens but I figured it wasn't "bookworthy" enough. Not really a keep and in the end it was mostly forgettable to me. Not a keeper.
