I read this not knowing that this was the book that the movie Christmas with the Kranks was based on. Having said that all I knew about the movie was from the ads that ran for it a few years ago. The book was a lighthearted attempt to show the craziness of the holiday spirit. I had to agree that the full steam spending of money on the holiday does get the be a bit bizarre. But I have to admit it was over the top with the love that the neighbors appeared to have toward the main family's daughter.
