This is a book that has the feel of a Liaden novel but happens completely across the universe. Gem is a professional thief that finds his past has come to claim him for his inheritance. He wants nothing to do with the cousin that is called to come and fetch him home since his Uncle sold him off as a child. He is dragged into a job he doesn't want by the fact of his cousin being taken hostage. The story does have an ending but you can tell there was more planned out to be written in the series and due to the publishing business that hasn't happened but maybe someday we will see it in print.

It took me a while to figure out it was a Liaden Universe novel just not with the usual rogues gallery

To know theres a sequel out there that we cant get kills me
