This is a very quick read that was a lot of fun. The story has a fun YA feel to it. Must be because the heroine is still in high school.  Theodora has been tapped to go into space with the IASA. Funny thing is she never applied. The nice thing about this being a novella the story line isn't dragged out. I would like to see more of this universe just to see how well the DA program works for them.

This was in the anthology Space Cadets put out by LA Con IV (2006 Worldcon). It was edited by Mike Resnick. I really like it because it went against tradition. Most people fight to get into something as prestigious as the Space Academy. I like the reason at the end why the character got enrolled. This was one of my favorite stories in the book.
