I picked this up to read on vacation a few months ago for the simple reason I figured it was a while since I had read a straight up SF book.  I knew nothing more about it than what I saw on the back cover. The book follows several viewpoint characters that never meet and live in different times. This was a bit annoying as I got closer to the end and realized that they would not meet up by the end of the book. The ending was ok since most of the plot lines were wrapped up by the end of the book.  I'm interested in seeing where it goes from here and I have the second book on my TBR pile so I should get to it at some point.
