#25 The Scent of Shadows: The First Sign of the Zodiac by Vicki Pettersson

Yet another urban fantasy. The only difference is there are no vampires or werewolves. Makes for a nice change of pace. Joanna comes into her supernatural powers on her 25th birthday. The only problem is she knows nothing about them until that day. She finds out too little too late to save her sister. Most of the book has Joanna fighting to get info and prove herself since she falls into the category of fullfilling a prophesy that states she is both light and dark.  The setting in Las Vegas is kind of fun and it got me in the mood for my recent trip there. And the book was good enough that I bought the second one. Book 2 came out the one month after this one. Several publishers are doing this to kick off a series and I'm not sure if it is good or bad but I had to admit as a reader I like it.

I've read the second one as well. I just haven't gotten a chance to post it. I read quite a bit on my vacation. And most of that was on the airplane or hanging out at the airport.
