This is the second Five Hundred Kingdoms book. Like the first it has the Tradition and Godmothers. This is less a twist on a fairy tale and more a twist on Greek mythology. Not bad and I have to admit it was a bit refreshing instead of rehashing all the same old tales. I have to admit there was less romance in this one than in the first Luna book, The Fairy Godmother. Not that I'm looking for the romance but I have to admit I was surprised at the lack of it. Just not sure when the next one will be coming out. Guess I need to go look at the Luna site.

Reread it

I couldn't sleep last night so I reread the entire book. I found the section you mean. If you know her politics then yea you can see it as a rant. But how many stories out there have the bad guys wanting a war or oppress the people of the country. Of course most of the ones I can think off hand have a good king that is taken over or killed by the supposedly loyal minion and makes the country suffer. Or the new wife quickly becomes a widow and things spiral down from there.

I guess things like that don't really bother me that much.

Once I saw the Degas style avvie pic, and the Read-porn avvie, I had to go see the rest... :-)

Well not ALL of them are reading porn, just most of them. Still looking for a good 6th one. I'm just darn pickey about them.

That's true. I just found it irritating. Preaching isn't something I look for in a romance - I read them when I want something sugary, not something heavy.

Nope you want to read them like candy. Sorta like getting the vomit flavored jelly bean.

lolol! I think I've missed out on tasting that one. Still, I'll survive somehow! But yes, that's sort of what it was like. Sure left a bad taste in the mouth, anyway. After reading a bit in MTG on the Bar, I've been giving Heyer a try. I liked the first one I read. I might see if I can find some more at the library.
