#134 Ascension: A Tangled Axon Novel by Jacqueline Koyanagi

Alana is a sky surgeon working on ships that are mostly outdated when they come to port. More than anything she wants to be working on a ship full time. With her aunt , they are barley getting by and depend on her sister's generosity since she is a much sought after spirit guide.  The Tangled Axon docks and comes looking for her sister, when Alana refuses to tell them they leave but not before she stows away with the complicit help of one of the crew. Turns out the pilot is dying and the only way they can think to save her is get the the famous spirit guide Nova to do a job for someone she doesn't want to work for.  The story is slow to build but the universe is set up with an interesting premise.  I liked it and I didn't see the ending coming.

I read the first chapter of this on Tor.com, and I really want to read more. Unfortunately, it's holiday season, we have no cash, and none of the libraries in our co-op own this title. :(

It's on my list for January's spending money. I hate waiting.

Have you signed up for Netgalley? Working in a library should get you some stuff there. It was on there but has since been retired. But the get lots of stuff.

I am on Netgalley but must have missed that title. :/

Maybe I'll go take another look at what's there. (I'm right now trying to slog through "Bellman and Black" and it's just not grabbing me.)

I had it for months but didn't get to it since it was a December release.
