#34 Blood Engine by T A Pratt
Jun. 20th, 2008 11:45 pmI picked this up after I got a proof of book 2 and I realized I wanted to read the first book in the series. I really hate being lost if I don't have to be. I read it on the plane and it kept me entertained. The premise is there is magic and magic users in this world but for the most part normal people don't know about them. Marla is in San Francisco to find the Cornerstone in order to protect herself from another magic user who wants her position as chief sorcerer of another town. The book uses the murders to introduce several types of magic users to the reader and set the groundwork for the series. I enjoyed it and liked the fact that even though Marla has a very powerful magical weapon she knows that it is destroying her humanness every time she uses it.
