I finished this a while ago but forgot to post it. The book starts with the 3 big foodie names Julia Child, James Bard and Craig Claiborne and gives lots of history about them and how they got interested in the food industry. The later chapters goes into detail about different food fads in this country. I learned quite a bit about American food history and there are lots of great tidbits in the book that you can sprinkle into your next dinner party about food.

Dragoncon update
Aug. 22nd, 2006 11:07 amOh the Dragoncon front, I have the writers lined up to do booth signings. Kevin Anderson, L A Banks, Julie Cochorane, Esther Friesner, Susan Kearney, Rosemary Laurey, Rebecca Moesta, Elizabeth Moon and John Ringo. Banks and Friesner will only be at the booth on Friday and Saturday. I might have one more writer but I need to firm up some details and if I do it will only be for Sunday and Monday. I'm going to be as busy as heck! If there is something you want me to bring for purchase please let me know now. I am bringing so much new stock for the writer signings I may not bring the book you really wanted to buy. So don't hesitate about letting me know what you want .
Nothing is set in stone as to what days and times anyone will be signing. I'm waiting on the final Dragoncon program to be posted and then the hailstorm of emails and phonecalls back and forth with all the writers listed working out times. With as busy as some of the writers might be at the con, please don't expect everyone to be signing everyday at the booth.
