I have been having people tell me constantly how I need to read these books. Most times this gets me to dig in my heels and not read them. Boy was I wrong. ;-) I can see where people were comparing it to Zelanzy's Amber series [which I dearly loved] but the difference was Corwin regains his memory while Miriam is always behind the 8ball because she has never been to this world before. The alternate worlds are nicely fleshed out and it is constantly the fish out of water feeling for Miriam that seems to drive this story. I do have questions as to why something happens but I really can't post them since they would be big plot spoilers in book 2.
Guess I will have to wait to find out in book 3. The good news is that he has had the contract for this series extended. Should be interesting the long terms effects to the original world if all the changes go through that Miriam wants to do.
I also did a reread of A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold. It had been a while and I couldn't sleep. I had forgotten some little bits to the plot that made it all the more fun to read. I'm not counting this as one of the books for the year since it was a reread.
