missingvolume New YA series set in an alternate world where people who work curses are criminals and they do their magic by touching you with their bare hands. Because of this everyone wears gloves all the time and to do a curse either good or bad gives blowback on the caster, the stronger the spell the stronger to cost. Cassel comes from a family of criminal curse workers and is trying to live on the straight and narrow. His carefully constructed world come crashing down when he wakes up on the roof of his exclusive school after sleep walking there. I liked the book and the universe it was set in. The ending is not a happy one and there are two more books that will be coming out.
