I had put off reading this simply because it was a thick book and I didn't feel like diving into the story. I enjoyed Mike's previous book and since this is set in the same universe I was confident I would like it as well. This one was darker than the previous just in the fact that the hero is a black ops guy. The ending left me hanging about what will happen to our hero. I have to admit I'm more interested in what happens on his home planet as time goes by with the actions that happened in the book. Yes I'm being vague about the details but I really don't want to spoil the book for anyone who does read it.

But it was nessary for the way the story line was going. Not sure I agree or disagree with the actions in the book. It made sense to Freehold but I don't think I could have done that.

Oh for the story line it was dead on, but the main character was a little to... smarmy?
