This is part of the Elemental Masters series she has done. The plus is I like fairy tale retellings. The down side is you almost never get any real overlap from book to book on characters. I have to laugh due to publishing stuff that her first book in the series was done with Baen so it doesn't get counted by Daw as one of the books in the series. This book felt a bit lighter in tone than the last few books. This was good for a nice light read as most of Lackey's books are.  If you like fairy tale retellings or books set in sorta Victorian era then you might like these.

I had wondered about that! I remember reading "The Fire Rose" when I was in college, and I've been curious as to why her later Elemental Masters books didn't include it as part of the list. Interesting.
