In other words, trying to avoid work. I'm dusting off a community I set up and had a few friends join but I thought I would toss a reminder out about it.
[livejournal.com profile] rockets_magic is a really cool idea [livejournal.com profile] ratseal and I cooked up. It had a nice start and then we all abandoned it for the last 7 months. It doesn't help that I joined Goodreads and have played more in there. Granted I didn't anything new there and I mostly just use the star rating system and comment on friends reviews. But anyway if anyone wants to play in either place sign up.

Yeah, I know.

Me and my bright ideas. In my defense, I have been re-reading a lot, vice accumulating new SF/F titles.

Also on a nonfiction binge, ATM.

Reread may be old to you but new to the rest of us. ;-)

Some nonficion is pretty darn cool. I need to start adding nonfiction back into the mix.

Currently on Jared Diamond's Third Chimpanzee. Also reading a book on freestyle swimming technique, and a text on collateralized debt obligation instruments.

In between I am rereading Drake and Stirling's General series, for the umpteenth time.

Post on the Thrid Chimp and the General series. Diamond writes some good stuff. Granted I have his books but haven't gotten around to reading them. I have a long car trip in a few weeks and I might tuck those in my bag. Granted it would be mean to the driver but I'll load him up on my awesome audio library and listen with him in the background.

Hokay, so now what? I guess it isn't such a pain to crosspost from Goodreads to here.

Where do we keep the chocolate?

Next to the booze. All good things go together. LOL

I never posted everything I reviewed on there. Just the really good ones I wanted to gush about. And I still need to read the Kay book that got reviewed way back when especially since I will see him in a few weeks.

Guy Gavriel Kay? Where's he going to be? What book?

I managed Tigana and Song for Arbonne, but Lions sort of didn't work and I haven't read the others -- got them, haven't read them, I'm a louse.

I have a fat kitty singing for sink water right now.

And I have to look for more Choya when we drive north this weekend. LOVE the plums.

He will be at World Fantasy in NY. The review is in Rockets and Magic.

If you find Choya let me know. I want more!

Well that was a GIVEN. If I find Choya, I bring back plural bottles.

Hokay, I hunt for review.

Done and done.

Heck, I can review the General series in my sleep. I will go find the book cover jpgs on Amazon and put something together.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] 8bitnintendo gave me a copy of Gaiman's Neverwhere, and now I get to see what [livejournal.com profile] caoimhinp has in mind for DC08.

Neverwhere is fun. To make the costuming easier there is a movie you can reference. Of course I have never gotten around to watching it. But I have read the book a long time ago. Mind the Gap!

I should post a review about Old Man's War. That was a lot of fun.

+1

I liked that one too. I especially enjoyed the immediate reaction to all the rejuves, the moment that they get back to their rooms. Entirely believable.
