#34 The Harlequin by Laurell K Hamilton

I finally got to meet LKH for the first time after reading all her books. This was a giveaway from BEA and I finished it by the time I got home from New York. I am happy to say there is less sex and some more plot. I'm more of a fan of the earlier books and to see more of the plot and less of struggling with her new powers was really nice. Hopefully this means that for now on there will be less of  must have sex every 4 hours or so and more fighting bad guys. Granted no zombies were raised in this book but she did get to act as a federal marshal instead. So here is to hoping that this is a turning point book in the series.

Oh that would be good news! About at Narcissus in Chains her writing broke down into a series of screws. It got so bad I stopped buying her books. And that's too bad, because her first seven or so books were rockin' good reads.

Well there still is sex. Don't get me wrong about that but it doesn't take up whole chapters anymore. There are at least 3 sex scenes but they don't run from one chapter to the next.

As long as it isn't three pages of plot and 330 of sex. I have two volumes that were a sheer waste of trees.

I was actually happy with the plot. Things are moving forward with the council and Mommie Dearest. But get it from the library to make your own decision. ;-) That way you will not hit me over the head with a hardcover book.

YAY!!!!!

Ya know, it's not even that there is sex. It's that there is so much continuous, ongoing, repetitive and not particularly well written, interesting sex and so very little else. I'm not sure I'm ready to go back. NiC was sort of a last straw with me, after the somewhat low substance Obsidian Butterfly.

Maybe she's getting her horny off with the Merry Gentry books now and can let Anita out of bed occasionally.

ewww, I suppose. At least for Merry it make some plot sense.

Yea it doesn't bother me in the Merry books. What bothers me in those is lately the entire book covers less than a day.

You might very well be able to skip those two without missing too much since she always seems to go over stuff in every book.
