Rose has led a sheltered life with only one day a month to do things that she wants to do instead of lessons imposed by her mother. She has been hidden from her father since before her birth and kept ignorant of her magical legacy. When Elvis the dragon pops into her life and takes her to the House of Fourteen and she meets people that have been looking for her and waiting for her arrival when she comes into her magical inheritance. The backstory given in the book sounded interested with the battle with the witches but the House of Fourteen seems to place a lot of faith in someone that really only found out about this side of herself. The entire time Rose is thrilled about everything happening even knowing she will hae to learn so much to fight the witches.
