I bought an ARC of this to read. I thought I was on EOS distribution list but it looks like that was a one time thing only. Oh well.

This is the 5th book in the series and the first one in hardcover. This is a series that builds on each previous book. The author does a nice bit of tossing in pertinent details that you need from previous books but without going into lecture mode or being completely obvious about it. This book is a turning point in the series. Since this doesn't come out until late March, I know I am being a bit vague here but I really don't want to ruin anything for a fan so no commenting on what happens in the story. I enjoyed it and I am glad to see the story progressing and new things happening in this universe without having the story jump the rails.

Im so upset that Kim and Jum Butcher and Laurell Hamilton all started releasing their books in hardcover way into their series. It makes it so difficult to have a loverly bookcase when its half and half...besides the cost

Argh

Well the writer gets more money when the series goes to hardcover. It also means that the series is less likely to be dropped. But as a collector it does look weird on the shelf. ;-) And to cost you can just wait until it hits paperback to buy it and get the hardcover from the library.

Im bad about waiting. I will most likely just get the HC and get the others in HC as they are re released (like Laurell Hamilton hehe)

I know its good for them...ok...its good for them...Yay ;)

Oh, I'm so jealous!

I'm a big fan of the Hollows series by Kim Harrison, and I'm just green with envy that you got to read an ARC!

On the plus side, I'm glad you liked it, since that means that I'm probably not going to be disappointed. Thank you for being vague and not spoling the story for me. :)

I try to be vauge if it is a ARC or a newer book. Who knows what I might say that would spoil some part of the book for anyone reading this thing. ;-)

for some reason, i can't read kim harrison. it's like trying to read bradbury or steven king. i know i *should* like her- she's got all the elements i usually like... i just get bored to tears reading her. this is what i call a 'stylistic disconnect between author and reader'. nothing's inherently wrong in the book, i just can't get into it.

Not every book is for every person. Have you tried the Rachel Caine Weather Warden series? Just curious if you would get a disconnect with that as well. To me they seem to have a similar writing style.
