#67 Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews

This book is the start of a new story arc in the series. Everyone now knows who Kate’s father is, Curran is no longer the Beast Lord and Ghastek is now in charge of the vampires in Atlanta. Kate and Curran are in a 90 day holding pattern from stepping down from the pack.  And even when they are not supposed to be doing anything with the pack, members of the pack come to them for help.  Georgina is looking for her werebuffalo boyfriend that has gone missing from his Guild job. Her father, the leader of the werebears will not help her since he doesn’t approve of her choice of mate. Also Kate is trying to find out why so many ghouls are attacking the city.  Turns out that both plots are part of the villain getting revenge on the descendants of people who did him wrong in the past.   The story is fast moving and surprising little feeling of infodumping to bring the reader up to speed on what has previously happened in the series.  This isn’t the worst place for a new reader to start since Kate and Curran are starting a new phase in their lives but it would spoil just about every bit of the previous books.
A fun read and I can’t wait for the next book to come out
