This is a SF romance novel that is set in a post war setting where humans have lost to the Manti, a genetically modified human crossed with insect DNA. Asha finds herself picked up by a ship outside the Sanctuary that holds the last humans on Earth. Pax finds himself attracted to her immediately due to his body's reaction to her pheromones. While trying to figure out why she was found outside they come across more humans and the reader finds out more about how things came the way they are now. The setting has possibilities but the ending wraps up way too easily that undercuts the world building. If you want a romance in an interesting setting then this is a good book but if you are looking more for a SF novel or a start of a series it falls a bit flat.
