#11 Nightshade by Michael Connelly

 

If you have ever watched Bosch or The Linclon Lawyer and though I would like to read something by Michael Connelly but don’t want to spoil either series then this is the book for you.  A great start to a new main character, Stillwell has been working in Catalina in charge of the sheriff’s substation on Catalina Island. The place where LAPD sends officers they want off the street but can’t fire or, people that clashed with bosses but can’t get rid of because to do so would make LAPD problems come to light.  There is a woman found in the bay in a bag attached to an anchor that his been there for days.  The officer that was the reason for Stilwell’s assignment to Catalina is in charge of the investigation and he doesn’t want Stilwell to do anything other than file reports and send him evidence. But that doesn't work out when a robbery case turns out to be linked to the murder victim. Now Stilwell is working the case trying to stay ahead of Stilwell and find out who killed Leigh-Ann Moss.
