I read the first book so I could read this one for my book club and realized you really didn't need to read the first book in order to read the second book. The second book is all set on Earth and has to do with how people are changing and how a small group of people decide to get rid of war they need to change as many people as possible in power. There were lots of questions about how certain things worked in this world and I really wasn't all that excited about reading it.
