#64 Dead Man's Hand by James J. Butcher
Sep. 28th, 2022 10:33 amThe world is divided by Usuals and Unorthodox. Unorthodox use magic and Usuals don’t but they outnumber the Unorthodox. Grimsby failed out of Auditor training and now is only allowed to use the only two spells he has mastered to entertain unruly children at a restaurant. When the instructor that failed, him is found murdered a few blocks away, his life is turned upside down. Now on the run and the only ally he has is the former partner of the murdered woman, Grimsby needs to find who did it and clear his name.
This is a good start for a new series, Grimsby isn’t the best and he uses the few talents he has quite well. The ending has a good setup for the next book, and it looks like he will be finding himself in more trouble.
