This one deals with Prim being the focus of the book, the ship heads to Peru due to a letter from Prudence’s mother with vague hints to set them on their way. The story is a direct continuation from the previous books so Prudence’s cousin is still aboard the ship along with everyone else. Primrose is the main filter for the story so of course she is dealing with Tasherit, her brother and the problems they find in Peru that for once Prim is the best to handle it and not Prudence. A fun light read and I can’t wait for a book to feature Percy.

This novella is a great bridge to the new series. Catalina and Arabella have taken charge of Nevada and Rogan’s wedding after Nevada fired several planners for lying to her. Catalina has point on everything and the days are ticking down to the wedding an extra duty get added to her plate. All of Rogan’s extended family from his mother’s side of the family are staying at her house ahead of the wedding. A family heirloom that Arrosa Rogan’s family uses at the weddings has gone missing and the only someone with powers that run in Rogan’s family could have pulled off the job. Catalina must find out who did this and get it back to Arrosa and not use her very rare siren Prime powers to warp anyone’s brain. Lots of family politics are packed in this novella and the plus is it goes over the universe the books are set in without having to have read the previous trilogy. But go read the previous trilogy because damn those are fun.

The latest Elemental Masters book is another one with Nan and Sarah as the main POV characters. It is set after the death of Sherlock and how those closest to him deal with it. The only good is Moriarty is also dead, but his gang lives on and they plan to exact revenge on all that have helped Sherlock over the years and they focus their attacks on John and Mary Watson. Lestrade also asks them to investigate the headless corpses of young women that are appearing in the Thames. All the threads tie up by the end of the story and if there are any more stories that feature the Watson’s they will certainly be hitting new ground with it.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
(Hogwarts Library)
by Newt Scamander, J.K. Rowling, Eddie Redmayne (Narrator) audio book

Audio book review. Normally I don’t listen to audios unless I have already read the book since I’m usually doing other things and I don’t want to miss a detail that might get blocked by my GPS telling me to turn in a few miles.

This is a quick short audio read by Eddie Redmayne who plays Newt Scamander in the movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. There is a bit of history of what is a beast and what isn’t at the beginning, but the body of the book is just a list of creatures and the facts about them. The nice part with the audio is there are sound effects along with the reading of the text so it makes it a bit more entertaining. A cute listen and I think I certainly enjoyed it more than if I had bothered to read the slim volume that has been out there for years.
