The third book in this series is just as good as the last two. Surprisingly you will not be that lost if you haven’t read the previous ones. Anything that has happened in the previous books that you must know is provided but there is never a feeling of an infodump to it. Rini is trying to bring her mother back to the sugar based world to fix things there. The problem with this is Sumi died when she came back to our world and thanks to magic died before her daughter was born in the land of Confection where time is different than here. There is a quest to help her and of course some previously introduced characters show up to help our heroes on their journey. But I have to say the last two lines of the book were the best and I think will stay with me for a long time.

I missed reading the second collection and I’ll have to go back to fix that but the comics in here are as good as the first book. These are one-page comics that are from her online strip. Lots of cats, dogs, and self-depreciation humor about her introversion and anxiety. But I think the best part was the advice to artists at the end of the book. It works for any creative type that is sharing their work to the public. Overall a fun book to read and I’ll make sure not to miss the next one when it comes out.

This latest collection is a string of one shots that are connected by the fact it is Peter going over some of his old cases as he is being reviewed for promotion. None of the stories are connected and in fact one doesn’t have any magic in it since it was about one of the first cases he worked before he even met his first ghost and became part of the Folly. There were not any one-page comics in this collection and I’m a bit bummed by that. What I liked about this collection is the reader didn’t have to be completely caught up on all the books to enjoy it.

This anthology is a collection of robot and fey stories and the last story in the collection took the title of the anthology to heart and ran with it. I really enjoyed most of the short stories. As with most collections there were always a few that I didn’t like as much but I’m sure that the ones I liked the most will not be other readers favorites. The stories were balanced pretty well between both teams and I don’t think one really came out as a better collection than the other. Several writers I read stuff from for the first time and now I want to give them a read in a larger format.
