This book has Bosch working on two cases. One a murder in the town where he is volunteering his time. A father and son pharmacist team have been murdered and Harry is coaching the cops there on the case. The other case is an old case from when Harry was younger and caught a murder rapist. DNA evidence seems to clear the killer and there is a claim that Harry or his partner planted evidence. Bosch enlists his brother’s help with finding out what happened in this one. With the double murder Harry runs into an old friend and it was good to see. Overall a good read and I can’t wait for the next book.

This book follows right after Silence Fallen so things will be spoiled if you read this one without reading it even though it is an Alpha and Omega book. Charles is in charge of the pack and is temporally staying at Bran’s house to make it easier for everyone to work with the change Anna and Leah are politely not getting along. There is a call from one of the wildlings saying there has been an incident. The incident turns out to be someone is hunting them down and trapping them for an unknown reason. Anna, Charles, Leah and a few other wolves are off to the area where the wildlings live secluded from the rest of the pack to try and find out who else might be in danger or worse working with these people.

Some plot points from previous books do come up in this one so fans that have done a recent reread will come fresh and read to this story. Overall a good story and does open up new avenues for the story arcs to develop.

This is a new book in the Others series but this one is in a new setting with new characters. Lake Silence is in the middle of Others territory and deals with Vicki running a hotel that was part of her divorce settlement. The catch with the hotel is no real expansion can be done to it without the Others approval. When her ex husband tries to take it back from her and ignore the contract that was set in place when the land was first leased from the Others to his family then the problems start.

This book can be a good starting point in the series but it does give away some of the stuff from the previous books but it does stand on its own as a new start to the series. A good read both for newcomers and for the faithful fans of the series.
