missingvolume: (books cats)
The second book in the series reads well enough that if for some reason you missed the first book you are not lost at all.  Isobel is growing into her job as the Devil’s Left Hand, she responds to a feeling from the Territory and is soon mixing it up with people from outside their land, magic that doesn’t want to be contained and spirits that don’t always send a clear message.  Gabriel is still with Isobel but he is taking more of a back seat to her lead as she is growing in confidence being on the road and upholding the Devil’s agreement.

I don’t want to give much of the plot away but the weird West feel to the book is perfect.  I can’t wait for the next one to come out.
