#107 Magic Stars by Ilona Andrews

This novella is set in the same world as the Kate Daniels books but Kate and Curran only have a cameo appearance in the story but it is set after the most recent book. The main focus is on Derek and Julie. I liked this since there was more focus on Julie and her powers and how that will work into the future stories set in this world. The story is a revenge story that quickly veers into something that will damage the city.  What I did like was there was enough background salted in that a new reader could get up to speed on what was going on without leaving the reader feeling like they were reading nothing but info dumps.

#108 Tricky Twenty-Two by Janet Evanovich

As usual Stephanie is bouncing between Ranger and Morelli for the entire story. There is one side plot with Grandma that I thought could have easily been expanded more but was wrapped up way to easily without the usual hijinks. By the end of the story, Stephanie gets her man with a little help as usual, helps some people and is back in the same place as usual with the two hot guys.

#109 Otherworld Secrets by Kelley Armstrong

I have read and reviewed several of the novellas collected here as either standalone books or part of a collection but there was new to me stories in here and a new story written for this coolection. The best deal is by far a reasonable print version of Angelic, a Sub press novella that sold out and is rather pricey on the secondary market.  The plus with this collection is it fills in some holes in the backstory of a few people and shines the story light on a few people that normally don’t always get featured in their own books.  I really enjoyed this and recommend it for fans of the series.
