#130 The Galaxy Game by Karen Lord
Dec. 29th, 2014 01:54 pmThe Galaxy Game is set up in a future with several colonies and no real contact with Earth. Each colony has developed differently on how they use psionic powers. The game referenced in the title is wallrunning a game of skill that uses some of these powers along with variable gravity. Large economies are built around this game. Rafi loves the game but isn’t the best player and he is also under watch due to his powers since his father abused his powers. He uses a few legal loopholes in his colony’s legal system and goes to another colony where he is an adult but really doesn’t know much more than that and gets caught up with a group that use his skills on wallrunning. Things happen but for the most part Rafi is watching the large changes happen and taking advantage of it but he isn’t the one that starts any of those changes. An interesting story that allows the writer to write about several different cultures without really making any one of them seem better than the others.
