#97 Fairest Vol. 4: Of Men and Mice by Marc Andreyko, Bill Willingham, Shawn McManus

This collection has secret spy Cinderella tracking down someone trying to kill Snow White. Turns out you get lots of back story on Cinderella since it turns out one of her coach mice stayed human after midnight when he told a woman he loved her. Turns out he has been having love affairs and getting mundys pregnant for centuries and releasing the offspring in the wild to take care of themselves. These offspring have been collected and being used as henchmen by someone with an axe to grind against Snow White. The upside is you get to meet an Indian god the downside is the baddie reveal does nothing to further the main line plot at all.

#98 Skink--No Surrender by Carl Hiaasen

Of all of the characters that Hiaasen has created, Skink will be the best of them. He isn’t the main focus of this novel, that goes to Richard, a teen that decides to rescue his cousin from someone she ran away with. Richard meets Skink the night Malley runs away. Skink decides to help Richard rescue his cousin from the guy she met on the internet. Turns out the loser is stealing a recently dead vet’s identify and that really irritates Skink. Richard learns how to drive from Skink due to an injury he gets trying to help a skunk on their trip. Everything works out in classic Hiaasen fashion but I have to wonder at what point will Skink walk off into the sunset never to seen again.

#99 Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh

The romance in this one has been a long time in coming with the fans. Hawke is the leader of the wolves and Sienna is one of the Psy that came to SnowDancer seeking sanctuary. The biggest mystery in the series is just what is Sienna’s power and why does she need to keep it under wraps. She was Councilor Ming’s pet weapon he was developing and he would like her back if he knew she was alive. Most of the story in this book has Hawke finally agreeing to court Sienna even though he knows he will not have a mating bond with her since the wolf he was developing a bond with died when they were kids. The Psy part of the story has Henry leading the Pure Psy against the changelings in order to destabilize the area and then go after the two Councilors in the area. Once again true love triumphs and the evil Psy are defeated. So good movement in the overall story line and finally some closure for one of the main characters love life makes for an entertaining read.
