#90 Shifting Shadows: Stories from the World of Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs

It was nice to see a collection of short stories that had more than one or two new stories in it. This one had 4 new stories and 6 reissues but it also had two chapters that had been previously cut from books. The stories are set in chronological order and they let the reader know where each story falls in the series. I had read most of the reprints before but it was nice to reread them in this collection. What I liked about the collection is you got some backstory on several other characters that normally would come up during the course of a book. A good solid collection of stories for someone that enjoys the Mercy Thompson universe.

#91 Musashi (A Graphic Novel) by Sean Michael Wilson , Michiru Morikawa

This is really a bare bones biography of Musashi. The setting is his adopted son explaining his Father’s entire life to someone standing at a memorial marker for Musashi. The entire thing reads as super brief summary of some facts. The book left me feeling that they glossed over the entire life of this person and kept repeating dry facts and dates without really touching what made this man who he is and how important The Book of Five Rings is to this day.

#92 Edible French: Tasty Expressions and Cultural Bites by Clotilde Dusoulier, Melina Josserand

This is the perfect little gift book for the foodie or language lover in your life. The book provides a nice color drawing of the food in question and a short description of the saying in French and gives some background how it might have developed in the language. Instead of the usual coffee table book a cute book to have in the kitchen or the nearby breakfast bar to flip through while waiting for something to finish cooking.
