missingvolume: (books cats)
The book starts out with Merry expecting twins and then surprise the doctors tell her it is triplets and she goes into labor and delivers them. I was surprised for babies that were 2 months early they came home from the hospital immediately but I guess that is Fey magic Most of the book deals with everyone bonding to the kids and the Queen of Air and Darkness admitting she has pretty much lost it but now wants to see the babies and will try and keep it together. There is some talk about feeling bad that they are being supported by Maeve Reed and possible reality TV series but that gets nixed. King Taranis is trying to state he is the father of the babies by the rape and now comes after Merry in her dreams. All the action really happens in the last chapter and it is has the usual epilogue feel to it. This book suffers from more than the usual amount of repetitive phrasing that LKH's books have. There are hints that the next book would involve Ash and Holly but who knows if that will happen or if there will be more any time soon.

I had a hard time getting into this book but not for the usual reasons. This time I knew something bad was going to happen to Jane and Vincent and I didn't want to see it happen. It isn't a giveaway to the plot that they are taken by pirates and left without any resources in Murano.  Eventually I settled into the story and it folds out wonderfully. Jane and Vincent uses their talents to keep their heads above water as they wait to hear back from Jane's family to send money. While they are doing this Vincent is also trying to find the con man that led them to this situation. The plot is a caper story in the end and things do work out. Can't wait for the next book

I read this going off the advice of a list on the net since it seems the Hellblazer collections are not in sequential order. This is more of a series of stories that show Constantine in different flashbacks to earlier parts of his life. It is a good read and you could almost read this before the Original Sin collection but reading it right after it does give the events in Original Sin a new light. I enjoyed the book and I'll pick up more of them but probably not at the rate I was first reading Fables or Hellboy.
