#133 Fables: Werewolves of the Heartland by Bill Willingham, Craig Hamilton, Jim Fern

This is a stand alone story that is all about Bigby as he is looking for a place to relocate Fabletown. Turns out Story City is founded by a soldier that Bigby knew back in WW2 and he looks as if he hasn't aged a day. Turns out due to a military operation that went awry he and female Nazi scientist were exposed to his blood and now are werewolves. They figured out how to turns others and left Europe to found a place of their own in the USA. At first glance it seems to be be great but of course looks are deceiving and having their "god" come strolling into town shreds the status quo and some decide to take charge instead.  A nice complete story that needs no Fables back story to enjoy.

#134 Ascension: A Tangled Axon Novel by Jacqueline Koyanagi

Alana is a sky surgeon working on ships that are mostly outdated when they come to port. More than anything she wants to be working on a ship full time. With her aunt , they are barley getting by and depend on her sister's generosity since she is a much sought after spirit guide.  The Tangled Axon docks and comes looking for her sister, when Alana refuses to tell them they leave but not before she stows away with the complicit help of one of the crew. Turns out the pilot is dying and the only way they can think to save her is get the the famous spirit guide Nova to do a job for someone she doesn't want to work for.  The story is slow to build but the universe is set up with an interesting premise.  I liked it and I didn't see the ending coming.

#135 Archangel's Legion by Nalini Singh

The next book in the series is a few months after the attack The Cascade is continuing to change the archangels in new ways and things are attacking the angels and making the vampires ill. Elena still is not getting the respect she is due as Raphael's consort from the angels outside the New York area. The vampire illness seems to be angel made and they are keeping it mostly contained but they don't know when something might happen to the angels again. The upsides in the story is that things come to a head with her father and she is making sure she has a relationship with her younger sisters. The book has a good ending but of course you know there will be more but you are not left hanging wondering what the next attack will be.
