#42 Pack of Lies by Laura Anne Gilman

 The second book in the spin-off series from the Retrievers is shaping up to be just as good as the previous one. I do get a chuckle out of the fact this is the Luna line but there is no real hot and heavy romance in this but certainly some good sexual tension. Bonnie's group is allowed to investigate a crime from almost the very beginning but nothing is quite what it seems as the evidence doesn't quite add up. Add to the mix an introduction of a group that looks to be a long term villain for them and it made for one enjoyable read. The nice thing about the series you don't need any knowledge of the previous series to jump right into the books. A good solid fun read. 


                                                                      

#43 The Black Book by Ian Rankin

The black book in question pulls Rebus into digging around in an old case while he deals with the return of his brother from jail and the breakup with his girlfriend of several books. No one wants Rebus digging around since time has passed and there are important people involved with the case and they certainly don't want any light shined on their dark pasts that have been forgotten by society. A good solid police procedural set in the 80's in Edinburgh.
