Well these books are still fluffy vampire chick lit or they try to be but they are getting darker in how they treat the characters. I was surprised at the ending of the book and will have to get the next one to see if everything turns out ok. Betsy and her sister Laura are traveling through time and hitting history points that effect Betsy's life as a vampire. I'm not sure if this will end up being a good turn or will be seen as the book that jumped the shark in the series. Will have to just wait for the next one. Granted I had read somewhere that the author did admit the next several books would be dark and she certainly has been right.
