#5 Death's Mistress (Dorina Basarab, #2) by Karen Chance

I like this heroine in this series much better than in her other series based in the same world. Dorina is a dhampir and does occasional work for her father the vampire that is on the American vampire senate. A simple snatch and grab unfolds a larger conspiracy and also becomes a bit entangled in the story of Dorina's roommate coming back from Fairy on the run from someone trying to kill her son.  The pace doesn't let up and there is a happy ending for the time being by the end of the book.

#6 The Women of Nell Gwynne's by Kage Baker

I was saving this book for a rainy day when I needed something to read that I know I will love but I broke down and read it when I found out Kage was dying. The story has a steampunk feel to it but it doesn't overwhelm the story and it also fits into the Company universe without having to know anything about those books. It is a novella but the nice thing is there are other stories coming out that are in this slice of the Company universe.  Also the book is coming out as a trade paperback with a new title, Nell Gwynne’s Scarlet Spy and have a bonus story.
