#104 Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Leviathan is an alt steampunk WWI history book. The British ran with Darwin's theory and they have reconfigured certain animals DNA to use them as tools. The German side had tons of steam powered tanks and walkers. The book is a good setup for the trilogy getting main YA leads from each side to meet and see that the other side isn't all monsters.
