#37 Blood Noir by Laurell K Hamilton

The latest in the series. This one has Anita going and playing faux girlfriend to Jason out in NC to prove that he is a straight guy to his dying dad. The entire book he sees his dad twice. Most of what happens in the book happens in her hotel room. There is a silly plot of cousins looking alike and causing the reason that Jason doesn't leave the hotel and show Anita any of his hometown or his parents house. At this point I don't even buy the books, I'm getting from the library.

#38 Night Shift by Lilith Saintcrow

Jill works the nightside of town. She is a hunter keeping the city safe from demons. Granted you find out very quickly she has made a bargain with the local demon leader to gain strength to keep the city clean.  The first few chapters set up the city and and introduces Jill quite well. The case she is working on gets her some help for a specialized branch of the FBI. The world building is  interesting and of course our hero has flaws but she seems to be working very hard at keeping them under control. I enjoyed this one and I'm on the lookout for the next book.
