Last year during Dragoncon I hosted Ms Banks at my booth for a signing. a friend of mine had said her books were really popular and I should ask her. I have to say she is very nice and in no way does that change how I feel about Minion.

I finally got around to reading it recently after I found a nice first printing of the book. I had a feeling I would be wanting to keep it and I was correct. This book is the beginning of a series and the is no huge climatic battle of good vs evil at the end and I was fine with that. Instead what you get is a great introduction to this universe. You know why Damali is who she is.  You have the villains identified and their motivations plotted out nicely. The only thing I had a beef with was even though Damali has been hunting vampires with her group of guardians, she was really left in the dark about what was going to happen to her as she matured. I thought it was a bit mean of her foster mom to do this to her. I think a bit much was sprung onto her at the last minute about her role in the future books and that will leave her a bit off balance to fight the coming evil.  I'm holding off reading book 2 now since I don't have a copy of book 3 handy since I have the feeling that I will want to read these one right after another.
