I brought both of these on vacation and once again Michael Connelly didn't disappoint at all. Hands down he is my fav mystery writer. There are a few of his books I haven't read but they are not the mainline Harry Bosch books.
Lost Light deals with Harry coping with retirement. Needless to say Harry can't leave well enough alone and starts to work on a cold case that was never solved while he was on the force. The hoops that Harry has to go through since he is no longer on the force stretch the character in new ways. Harry also finds out something about his ex-wife that I think changes him for the better.
The Narrows is a great book that ties off the storyline from the Poet and Darkness More Than Night. The beginning of the book has him investigating the death of Terry McCaleb, the protagonist of the Poet and Bloodwork. Bloodwork was later made into a film with a few changes and these changes are addressed in The Narrows that made me actually laugh out loud. Connelly handled it wonderfully and I don't think I have seen a writer addresss changes made for the screen into his continuing series so well. It made me want to go and watch Bloodwork again.
