This was a rather dry read. The book was broken up by trade routes and went into great detail about each spice and where it came from. I was hoping for more usage and description of flavors. Several spices listed no longer exist. Some described have gone from very expensive to rather common due to modern day cultivation standards. I did learn a few things but not something I would be telling all my friends about.
