This book focused more on the witch part of the universe with Persephone reluctantly agreeing to go through the competition for the leadership of the local coven. She doesn't want the job since she is trying to learn more about her role as Lustrata. Most of the book covers the testing for this. While prepping for the the tests she receives a warning for the vampire that she shares a bond with. It seems the faeries are not happy with Menessos and they plan at striking at him. Everything comes together by the end of the book and I'll be happy to get the next one when it comes out.
