The latest in the Psy-Changeling books actually has very little of the Changelings in it. The main focus is on two Psy, one from the Mercant family and a CEO previously never mentioned. The PsyNet is still collapsing but when Canto Mercant thinks he may have found a way to strengthen the Anchors Psy that keep the net from collapsing. There is the usual awakening of emotions in the Psy main characters since Silence has broken and the two of them discover that they have a shared past. As usual the Architect is trying to bring down the net in order to build a powerbase for themselves to rule over all three races. The book is everything a reader has come to expect from the author and I enjoyed it. This may not be the best place to start the series but as usual there is enough background information given during the book that the reader will not be lost.

Digital review copy provided by the publisher through Edelweiss

comments

Even with this book listed as book 3 in the new series you could almost start here. There is backstory that is woven into the telling but you don’t need to know what has happened before to enjoy the story of Memory’s rescue and growth into her powers. Alexei finds her and is attracted to her even with his hang-ups about relationships. There are lots of cameos from people from previous books that help Memory with her recovery from being used and exploited for almost her entire life. Memory is convinced that she is a broken empath that doesn’t help people like the rest but by the end of the book she finds out just what good her flavor of empathy can accomplish.

Digital review copy provided by the publisher through NetGalley

comments

This take place after Biffy becomes Alpha of the London Pack. Professor Lyall has finally returned from overseas and steps back into the Beta roll in the pack. This is a romance, so some people may not be as interested in it even though it is very much part of the larger universe of the Parasol Protectorate even if timewise it happens during the Custard Protocol books. I actually liked the other parts of the story a bit more than the romance since I think I need to reread Timeless for when Biffy was first turned.

comments
