#46 Flinx's Folly by Alan Dean Foster

I decided to take a trip back to my childhood and read some Pip and Flinx books that have come out since the last time I tried to catch up on him. In this one Flinx decides to find Clarity in hopes that talking to her will help him sort out his life. I don't remember Flinx being this angsty the last time I read him which was when Mix-Flinx came out over 5 years ago. He is having bad headaches and it seems that something wants him to do something that can change the course of the universe. The villain in this story is kind of blah and by the end it really felt like a setup for the next book.  After reading this I really want to go back and read some of my early favorite books in the series to recapture the feel and love of the series I had as a kid.

#47 Sliding Scales by Alan Dean Foster

This one I liked much better than the previous book in the series. Granted that he decides to take a vacation in the middle of a quest is a bit weird, I take it as a plot point to get him to a planet that is far enough away that the AAnn are on it. This takes the usual story trope of hero with amnesia. What I really liked about is not so much Flinx developing a creative side to himself in the story but more info in the AAnn culture. I liked this one more than the previous book and I don't feel so bad about wanting to continue reading more in the series.
