This book is a great starting point for the new reader. The setting is new to the returning reader and deals with the bears of Moscow and minor character from the ongoing series.  Silver has been poisoned and the only people with access to have done it looks like family. To keep her alive and maintain the charade that everything is fine it is passed off as building bridges with the new alliance.  Tthis doesn’t always go to plan and there are attacks in Moscow from the new set of villains hoping to destroy the Psy and anything like an alliance between the three races.

There are some new people brought into the story and I’m sure we will see more of them and I really hope we see more of both Silver’s grandmother and brother.

Holding back review until closer to the publication date. I will say go and reread the first book so you are ready to dive into this one. It was a lot of fun.

This ebook only is set in the Soulless universe and you do get to see Lord and Lady Maccon but it mostly deals with Genevieve living with the Woolsey Hive and possibly falling in love with a house maid.  There is quite a bit of class protocol in the story that sets up the problems for the possible couple to overcome.  Overall it is a sweet love story and a nice dip into the Soulless universe and I was glad to get my hands on it.

With this collection you get to see four separate couples come together. The Dorian story is the one that I liked the best going over the first time he was able to shift. The last story was a rekindling of a romance with a locked room murder to solve. The problem for me was I swear I had read the murder setup up somewhere before and it seemed so obvious who the killer was from the beginning. The first story is set in BlackSea’s domain but we really don’t get to learn anything about them since it is a love story between the Psy and a human. And the third story covers a romance that isn’t seen in the packs that often a dominate female with a submissive male.  That one was interesting since it covered more the whys of how the pack structure works with dominate and submissive members and used the wolf vs cat to explain it without infodumping the reader.

Overall it was a nice collection and it was fun but I think I might have enjoyed it a bit more if it hadn’t come out so close to the previous book.  Now I’m just left drumming my fingers waiting for a mainline novel to push the story arc of the series. The short romances are nice but they are not what I like the most about the series.

This standalone reads as part of a series but it isn’t.  The local librarian is hunting down demons that are chowing down on some kids.  With no training other than kickboxing and the magic from books she found in a secret room in the basement of her local library she is doing a decent job of hunting them down that it attracts the attention of the Order.  The duo from the Order come looking for the magic user and find out what is going on in town.  Lots of personality clashes and fights with the demons trying to take over her town.  Lots of chemistry between the leads and also lots of culture clashing since Orion is part demon and he is fighting part of his natural responses to her.  A fun quick light read and I wish there was more to the universe.

As with each book in the series, this one covers one of the supporting cast on his quest to find his mate along with getting the mission done he has been assigned.  Naasir doesn’t fall into the normal category of Hunter, Angel or vampire. He has vampire tendencies but comes across more beastlike in a story universe that doesn’t have were creatures.  He is assigned to escort a scholar Angel to find the hidden resting place of a sleeping Ancient Angel before Lijuan finds him and has him killed.  In the end true love overcomes all obstacles to a HEA ending for this couple.  I know these books stick to a formula but the author has written a very interesting universe and keeps the overall story arc moving along even as people keep falling in love.

This latest novella in the Anita Blake vampire hunter consists of just a few scenes that last chapters.  Anita is confronted by her lovers with a problem that Jason has with his new girlfriend.  Also Anita is having problems with her girlfriend as well.  The group decides the best way to work on the relationship problems is to have an orgy. Most of the pages is dedicated to the six people in bed. A few people leave the room and then more sex happens and then relationship decisions are made in after sex cuddle session.  The entire thing almost felt as if it was chopped out of one of the books early on since there are no bad guys attacking someone part of the pack or vampire group or even raising a zombie.  If you care about reading lots of sex then this will be enjoyable for you, if not read the first few chapters and the last chapter or so to see what is happening relationship wise in the book. I almost will not be surprised if this is summed up in the next book that comes out.

I've read several of Ms Saintcrow's books and this one was a new series to me. Theo runs a magic shop with several other women and they have a small coven together. Theo cares about everyone she meets and tries to help them. Drunks and addicts are not turned away and she uses her magic to help and heal them even if it wears her out. Dante and another watcher have come to town on information that Theo is slated for execution by the Crusade.  The watchers are part of a larger witch group called Circle Lightfall that tries to protect non affiliated witches from the Crusade and other dark things that want to feast on their magic by killing them. There are the usual conflicts of not trusting each other since they first met and the slow doling out of info while battling the bad guys. Theo and her friends come up with a solution that doesn’t make them dependant on the Watchers and I liked that they didn’t just believe everything they were being told.
This had more of a novella feeling to the story but I don’t know the exact word count.  I know I would read more of these due to the interesting world building in the story.

This one deals with healing the PsyNet using the empaths, the problem with that is waking and training their empathic powers since they have been trained to never use them. And the remnants of Pure Psy are targeting the empaths as a way to fight the breaking of Silence the Arrows have started guarding them on a one on one basis. This is the setup for Ivy and Vasic to meet and have Ivy fall in love with him since her Silence is broken and has been for years.  Of course not every path to HEA is smooth sailing since Vasic has just weeks to live due to having experimental tech grafted to his arm and into his brain. Of course the book has a HEA and it seems the problems with the PsyNet are going to get fixed with this solution. There are still several other loose ends left to the series and just checking the writer's blog she states there are lots more. The downside being I am caught up with the books and now have to wait like everyone else.

This one is all Psy book, Kaleb finally finds what he has been looking for the last several books. Turns out it was someone who he cared about in secret and was taken away from him as a young man. Most of the book is Sahara trying to recover from being tortured for years by another councilor to use her powers to control other Psy. The other half of the book is Pure Psy attacking different cities and then Kaleb and the Arrows coming to help. As the attacks continue the Changelings are also helping in the rescue efforts showing the world a united working front against the Pure Psy. By the end of the book the group seems to be broken and a hopefully a new future for all the Psy can start. I’m curious how the next book will go  in the future of the Psy race.

This one is a changeling romance with the two parties certain they will never have a bond. Riaz, a lone wolf who did find his mate but she is married and in love with someone else and he will not break up the relationship and Adria a dominate woman licking her wounds after a failed relationship. They are attracted to one another but both of them refuse to have a serious relationship. Of course the road to true love will have some bumps but it does happen in the end. The war plot moves along but nothing huge. Still entertained by it so will keep reading.

The romance in this one has been a long time in coming with the fans. Hawke is the leader of the wolves and Sienna is one of the Psy that came to SnowDancer seeking sanctuary. The biggest mystery in the series is just what is Sienna’s power and why does she need to keep it under wraps. She was Councilor Ming’s pet weapon he was developing and he would like her back if he knew she was alive. Most of the story in this book has Hawke finally agreeing to court Sienna even though he knows he will not have a mating bond with her since the wolf he was developing a bond with died when they were kids. The Psy part of the story has Henry leading the Pure Psy against the changelings in order to destabilize the area and then go after the two Councilors in the area. Once again true love triumphs and the evil Psy are defeated. So good movement in the overall story line and finally some closure for one of the main characters love life makes for an entertaining read.

The main focus of this one is the SnowDancer pack and Drew trying to win Indigo's heart. Indigo is against having a romance with any wolf that is not more dominate than her due to the example of her Aunt's relationship as being the more dominate than her mate. needless to say since Drew isn't in the normal chain of command in the pack Indigo doesn't see him as dominate to her and therefor isn't good enough for her. To muddy the waters in the story one of her old lovers comes back from an overseas assignment and shakes things up for a few chapters. In the end the chemistry and mating bond prevails between them. Not much on the Psy front in this book but I guess that is to be expected with so much of it happening in the previous one.

missingvolume: (books cats)
The main couple in this one is Max a human cop that was introduced in a previous book as being an honest cop with a natural shield that the Psy couldn't manipulate. The love interest is a Justice Psy, she spends her time going into the minds of criminals and pulling out their memories of crimes and transmitting them to law enforcement. Because of the work Justice Psy don’t have a long shelf life and they are not used for anything but the worst cases. Sophia is at the end of her usefulness and is picked to work a case for Nikita to investigate several suspicious deaths on her staff.  Since Sophia’s Silence training is pretty much broken she wears gloves so she can’t read anyone she accidentally  touches but with Max’s natural shield, she can touch him and a romance starts to bloom between them.  They solve the murders and this book is much more focused on the Psy part of things than on the changelings it was nice not to see the mating bond be the thing that drives the love match.

missingvolume: (books cats)
The romance couple in this one is a Psy that has had her memory erased and been given compulsions to kill the human that she has been dumped off at his door. Dev is the leader of Shine, a group that tracks down descendants of Psy that refused the Silence and hid themselves so well that not even their children knew their past. Honestly it felt a bit silly the risks he was taking knowing she was was a trap and that as the story progressed she was also dying. The B story with the Psy did advance that plot line along pretty well and does change how the Council split is going along the Pure Psy lines.

missingvolume: (books cats)
This book's romance has two top changelings one from the leopards and the other from the wolves fall for each other.  The wolf has a hard time with the relationship since she is a dominate and she doesn't want to submit to her leopard lover. Lots of frustration in the relationship so they can have hotter makeup sex. The Psy are dealing with someone controlling them and having them kill humans and changelings. Not too much new is pushed on that end of the plot except for a gesture that Sascha's mother sends her a book that should help her use her empathy.

missingvolume: (books cats)
I didn't care for this one as much. The romance couple is a female Psy and a leopard changeling. Her son has been a hostage of one of the Psy council as she works on a project to bring about the Psy to have one hive mind. She was previously introduced when she helped free some of the Shine project kids in a previous book and covered up the fact that they were rescued and were not killed in the attack on the base. Maybe I read too many of these in a row but this one wasn't much on the overall plot that I read the books for and not the romance factor.

missingvolume: (books cats)
This book's couple focus is on a male changeling and a human woman that were friends when they were small children but due to horrific events he was led to believe that she was dead.  Talin approaches Clay because she needs someone to help her find who is taking the children After the shock of finding out she is alive and hid it from him he agrees to help. Turns out the dead kids were discovered by the corporation Shine and given help or scholarships. Shine it turns out is run by the descendants of Psy that decided not to follow Silence when it was enacted. They have been hunted down ever since and now they are trying to find people that might have some Psy powers but don't know how to control it. I could have cared less about the romance but this book really developed the overall human side of the story that has been missing in the previous books.
missingvolume: (books cats)
I read this anthology a bit too soon in the series so I got spoiled on some things that happen later on in the series. But it was more of who "mates" with who stuff and not too much in what happens in the overall story arc. The first half of the collection is fine to read by the time I read it but the last two stories were where the spoilers were. Granted one gave away the plot of the book that I am reading now since I am way ahead of what I am actually posting about. More good fluffy reading I just need to have read it further down the list than where I read it.

missingvolume: (books cats)
This book switches it up a bit instead of a Psy woman leaving Silence and hooking up with a changeling guy we have a Psy male that left with the PSy community when they were going to kill his brother and his nieces and nephew. The five Psy were able to create their own small net and convince the entire Psy community that they were killed by the changelings for trespassing on their lands. Of course there are issues with the romance since this time the changeling woman is being hunted by a changeling that is being controlled by the Psy since she was a previous victim of a powerful Psy that broke the Silence and tortured and then killed changeling women. There is more resistance to the romance from family members than in the previous books and this one follows the wolf pack instead of the leopards. Once again I'm skimming the kissy parts to get more of the world building. I know I'm doing it wrong but the world building is pretty good in the books.
